Photo of the week – “Amanecer” (sunrise)
I like to get up early, usually at around 4:30 or 5am. It gives me a chance to get a jump on the day. I prepare for Bible class, I reply to emails, I write, I meditate and I pray.
On this particular morning, just as the sun was coming up, I could hear someone working in the field next to us. I walked out, introduced myself and asked if I could take his photo. I knew the light would be perfect.
We didn’t talk. I let him work, and took photo after photo. I probably took 150 photos to get to this one image.
I found out where he lived and stopped by to give him a printed copy. Vonda and I probably spent an hour visiting with his parents as their grandkids ran in and out of the room, laughing and playing and staring at the “gringos”. They wouldn’t let us leave until we took a bag full of oranges from their tree. The kindness in this country is hard to describe.

Always great Pictures, George! And encouraging stories to go with them. I love how you were able to use this one as a ministry tool. And got blessed with oranges in the process!

What is this farmer growing in his field?
Most people grow corn and when the stalks are tall enough they plant black beans at the base, which crawl up the stalks. Pretty cool!
Thanks for an image of amanecer. Not a time of day I see very often! 🙂
You are welcome!
Absolutely stunning photo, George!!! 💛💛
THANK YOU Sara! We can’t tell you how much we miss your face!
Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise…my father always said! 👍😀
Yes!
I think my dad just said, “Get out of bed or you’re gonna miss the bus!” Haha.
